Why we chose to solve this problem

Over a decade ago I emigrated to Canada leaving my family in the UK. Like most people, my family and I have kept in touch. That is, until 5 years ago... during a trip visiting my young family, my mother, on the very last day before heading to the airport, told me that she had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, and this would be her last trip.

This meant all of our future communications would via phone. Over these past 5 years, I slowly began to notice some of my Mother’s words were hard to understand. This is a condition known as dysarthria. often I would have to ask to repeat the sentence, with the same outcome, or leading the conversation and leaving her frustrated.
